Elections for AADB President and Vice President Coming Up!
Want to help lead AADB into a brighter future? We are looking for good leaders to be the next President and Vice President of the only national organization of, for, and by deaf-blind people in the USA.
The terms of the current officers end on June 30, 2009, so the new officers’ four-year term will last from July 1, 2009 to June 30, 2013. Elections for board members will be two years later.
There are several requirements for candidacy for President and Vice President:
- A candidate must have been an AADB member for 12 consecutive months immediately before ballots are counted. The ballots will be counted in May 2009, so the candidate must have been a member from May 1, 2008 through April 30, 2009.
- A candidate must be an Active (deaf-blind) member.
- Any two candidates must run as a team for President and Vice President. A candidate can choose any Active (deaf-blind) member as a running mate.
Teams can declare their candidacy by submitting the following information to the AADB Office, postmarked by December 31, 2008:
- a letter of intent,
- copies of state identification card or passport, and
- brief biographical sketches of each candidate on the team.
The biographical sketches can include the candidate’s qualifications, leadership experiences, and what the team plans to accomplish during their four year term in office.
Candidates can also choose to send pictures of themselves to keep on file in the AADB Office and be posted on our website.
Know any good deaf-blind leaders out there? Encourage them to run for President and Vice President of AADB!
