Council of State Administrators for Vocational Rehabilitation (CSAVR)
At the CSAVR Spring Conference, Jamie Pope, Executive Director, gave a short presentation about SSPs to the Committee on Services to Individuals who are Deaf, Deaf-Blind, Hard of Hearing, and Late Deafened. She explained how they are an important link to successful employment for deaf-blind people in looking for jobs, preparing for interviews, and keeping jobs. She also mentioned how AADB can be a resource for vocational rehabilitation counselors to learn more about SSPs. She spoke about the collaboration between AADB and Helen Keller National Center (HKNC) on the SSP services front, including the HKNC deaf-blind awareness poster focusing on SSPs. This conference provided a great opportunity to network and spread the word about AADB and SSP services to state administrators of vocational rehabilitation.

National SSP Pilot Project (NSSPPP)
Last month, AADB had the opportunity to have two people from the NSSPPP under Deaf-Blind Services Center (DBSC) in Seattle, WA, give an orientation about their SSP curriculum at the AADB Office. Jelica Nuccio, project director, and Theresa Smith, curriculum developer, gave AADB and two other people from the community an overview on the finished curriculum. The SSP curriculum will soon be available on the DBSC’s website: www.seattledbsc.org.
