The American Association of the Deaf-Blind is the only consumer organization of, by and for deaf-blind people. AADB's mission is to ensure that all deaf-blind people achieve their maximum potential through increased independence, productivity, and integration into the community.
Membership Benefits:
Be aware of what's happening in the national deaf-blind community:
- Learn about legislation and services that impact our independence and access.
- Network with other people who have hearing/vision loss.
- Receive The Deaf-Blind American magazine two times a year in large print, Braille, e-mail attachment or on computer diskette.
- Receive “AADB Today”, a twice a month e-newsletter.
- Get discounts for AADB national conferences.
Membership Categories:
AADB offers four classes of membership:
- Active Memberships -- $10 a year
- Active memberships are offered to individuals who are deaf-blind and living in the United States. In addition to receiving membership benefits, each member of this class has voting privileges to all AADB's general elections and business meetings. After fulfilling the bylaws requirements, active members can run for any position on the Board of Directors.
- Associate Memberships -- $10 a year
- Associate memberships are available to any United States resident who is not deaf-blind, but has a strong interest in supporting AADB. This membership does not permit voting privileges; however, each member of this class is able to participate in such projects as committee work and legislative activities.
- Organizational Memberships -- $50 a year
- Organizational memberships are offered to bona fide national, state, and local for-profit and non-profit entities with a mission or interest promoting the betterment of deaf-blind people.
- International Memberships -- $10 a year
- International memberships are available to any individual and organization from other countries. While our main focus is in the United States, AADB does some networking and information sharing to individuals and organizations to enhance the lives of deaf-blind individuals in other countries.
